Introduction
Applications are invited for the position of Compliance Officer (Grade 7) based at Bruma. The successful applicants will be reporting to the Senior Manager: Legal and Compliance.
Advising and guiding business on changes and shifts in the regulatory landscape in terms of focus
areas by regulators, industry trends, emerging regulations and the implementation of controls to
mitigate and manage identified regulatory risks. Assessment of individual transactions or larger
business initiatives (as part of implementation of business strategy) and identification of regulatory
and/or compliance risks and requirements associated therewith
Job description
- Development of Compliance framework.
- Present compliance reports to the ATNS governance structures.
- Conduct compliance risk assessment on ATNS and its Air Traffic Service Units..
- Facilitate the development of compliance control frameworks on an annual basis
- Schedule compliance assurance activities in order to monitor ATNS’s compliance with regulatory requirements/obligations.
- Advise stakeholders on best practice control measures to treat compliance risks.
- Investigate compliance issues and regulatory matters arising.
- Development and conduct control self-assessments based on the approved compliance control framework.
- Track implementation of compliance control frameworks.
- Report control self-assessment findings to governance structures.
- Conduct compliance monitoring in accordance with the assurance strategy and plan
- Formally raise and report on issues of non-compliance, recommend corrective actions and monitor the implementation of corrective actions.
- Track implementation of corrective actions and report deviations to governance structures
- Review new business/projects for compliance with regulatory requirements and advise business appropriately
- Ensure ongoing improvement in levels of compliance through ongoing assurance representative activities and quality of advice
- Schedule, plan and conduct compliance risk identification, assessment and treatment training in relation to the compliance training plan
- Keep up to date on compliance assurance best practice and research developments regarding compliance assurance and advise business appropriately
- Develop and deliver comprehensive assurance training to stakeholders in accordance with the compliance training plan
- Manage and assist with the implementation of compliance projects, including representation on co-opted projects
- Review, manage and oversee compliance matters for ATNS.
- Assisting with investigations.
- Liaise with various stakeholders and routine administration on aviation projects and general insurance and other relevant policies.
- Prepare relevant information and documents for compliance.
- Handling of general compliance queries.
- Maintains the Compliance Regulatory Universe.
- Keeps management fully informed of all new developments in compliance legal matters, and keeps all levels of management informed of applicable new compliance laws.
- Regularly assess the efficiency of control systems and recommend effective improvements.
- Facilitate the confidential reporting by employees of concerns, shortcomings or potential non-compliance in respect of the business policies, legal, regulatory and ethical / consideration obligations, or ethical considerations.
- Conduct regular assessments of the Compliance function within the respective ATNS and their adherence to Compliance policies, procedures, guidelines, frameworks, standards and systems.
- Ensure adequate compliance training is provided.
- Set and monitor annual objectives.
- Conduct compliance performance appraisals.
- Monitor adherence to company human resource policy, procedures and disciplinary code.
- Advise where required.
- To be accountable for the promotion of the ATNS corporate culture within area of responsibility in support of corporate objectives.
Minimum requirements
Minimum Qualifications
· Appropriate legal qualification, B Com Law, LLB (Bachelor of Laws) or Equivalent
Minimum Experience
· Minimum of 5 years regulatory compliance experience
