Conduct Aeronautical Surveys (WGS-84). Co-ordinate surveys and planning all logistics associated with the conduct of surveys. Conduct surveys in accordance per AP004. Co-ordinate with import/export companies for despatch of equipment and completion of NEP formalities, Forex, Visa etc. Compile and submit all relevant documentation associated with the conduct of a Survey (domestic/international) as per ATNS policy and procedures. Compile, update, and submit expenditure claims/reconciliation for all survey projects related activities. Update WGS-84’s budget tracker. Maintain a record of surveys completed. Ensure adherence to the South African Geomatics Council requirements. Ensure adherence to the Geomatics Act 19 of 2013. Ensure adherence to Professional and Technical Surveyor’s Act 1984 (Act 40 of 1984). Ensure adherence to the Code of Conduct in Terms of Section 19(1) of the Geomatics Profession Act 19, 2013.
General Duties
Complying with all ISO requirements, and regularly (every 3 months) review relevant procedures. Provide input into survey sections annual Budget. Provide input into survey section training requirements. Provide input into survey section manpower requirements. When required, provide lectures/talks to ATA students and interested parties relating to WGS-84 surveying. Provide mentorship as and when required. Continuously interact with all relevant ATNS Department. Regularly interact with SACAA on survey matters. Maintain documentation as per ISO and ATNS filing system..
Market AIS services and Develop client awareness - Communicate AIS services available to potential and existing clients as per AP005. Draft formal quotations based on client request as per AP006. Technical liaison with internal and external clients. Draft and submit survey articles for publication in Insight and other external periodicals.
Minimum requirements
Formal Qualifications
• National Diploma, B Degree or BTech Degree in Surveying
• Registered as a Surveyor with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) and Membership of the South African Geomatics Institute (SAGI)
Experience
• Minimum five (5) years post-qualification field experience
• Working knowledge of different Survey equipment, software and procedures
• Working Knowledge of International Civil Aviation Organisation Standards and Recommended
Practices as applied to Aeronautical surveys such as the ICAO Annex 14 and ICAO Doc 9674 (WGS-84 Manual).
• Be willing to travel and work on weekends
• Valid Passport and Code EB driver’s license
