Introduction
Applications are invited for the OJT Assessor (Tower and Approach): at the Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (FAPE). The successful applicant will be reporting to the Watch Manager FAPE.
NB: Please note that this position is location-specific and strictly limited to employees currently based and operating from FAPE.
Overview
To assess on-the-job and continuation training of Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) that meet the required standards to enable certification, and support safe and effective air traffic operations
To assess the performance of Air Traffic Controllers upon completion of training and award competency certification
To ensure that newly qualified as well as experienced ATCs maintain the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency through effective assessment of performance and competence
To support the safe and effective flow of air traffic in accordance with ATNS policy, aviation regulations, and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices through the provision of effective on-the-job training to ATCs.
To ensure continuous research in the industry to identify trends and new technologies that can be implemented internally to enhance the current Safety, Health and Environment policies, processes and procedures.

Major Activities
Training Needs
Contribute to the identification of training needs for Air Traffic Controllers that can be covered through on-job-training (OJT) or additional formal training if required.
Assessment of Competence
Perform ongoing assessment of trainee performance throughout their training programme, provide constructive feedback, and document progress: Course readiness assessment, Validation readiness assessment, Annual proficiency assessment, Validation training summative assessment, Continuation training competence assessment, Procedural control competence assessment, Validation assessment.
Conduct summative assessment of trainees on completion of the on-job-training (OJT) programme to award certification of competence to eligible ATCs and/or ATSOs. Review training progress and maintain the minutes and records. Assist with auditing and moderation. Compile simulator training curricula. Maintain training documentation.
Training Material Development
Contribute to the preparation of the curriculum and training programme for Air Traffic Controllers and/or Air Traffic Service Officers. Prepare assessment schedules based on training plans.

Complete the required assessment documentation, including training reports and summative assessments.

Communication and Feedback
Maintain clear communication with trainees, line managers, and operations training, providing feedback, and addressing any concerns or issues.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in refresher training to stay updated on best practice and new techniques
Minimum requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Applicable ATCO Rating in the relevant discipline
OJTI Rating
Assessor Training certification will be advantageous; however, candidates without this qualification will be provided with the required training
Train-the-Trainer certification will be advantageous; however, candidates without this qualification will be provided with the required training

Minimum Experience
ATCO1 - Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an ATCO, of which at least 1 year must have been served as an instructor in FAPE
