Introduction
To perform accounting and reporting activities related to Fixed Assets in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles / IFRS and with appropriate rules and regulations.
Job description

  • Apply and implement applicable International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
  • Ensures that the Fixed Asset register is complete, accurate, valid and maintained.
  • Maintains the fixed assets inventory system by supervising the recording of all items in the inventory, maintaining pertinent records, and ensuring adequate treatment of fixed asset acquisitions, movements and retirements.
  • Work with Engineering department and Project Accountant on placing assets in-service.
  • Ensure all assets placed in-service are barcoded.
  • Responsible for annual physical fixed assets verification.
  • Prepare monthly depreciation on FAR, wear and tear on IFRS Tax Register
  • Prepare depreciation for budget purpose annually.
  • Review and approve monthly lead schedules and FA control account reconciliations
  • Conduct annual useful life exercise on fixed assets and impairment testing
  • Conduct annual review of residual values
  • Preparation of annual PPE & Intangible Note to the AFS
  • Prepare Quarterly report on Fixed Assets
  • Assist in month-end closure procedures and assist with tasks relating to the general ledger
  • Monitor and review monthly operational expenses, as per departments allocated, against budget and advise and report on variance.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Qualifications
 
B.Com Accounting degree with Articles
 
 Minimum Experience
 
5 – 6 years experience with direct exposure to all aspects of Assets management, WIP management and supervisory experience
