Introduction
ATNS is seeking a candidate to provide a safe, orderly, and expeditious Air Traffic Services in accordance with Company policy; South African Aviation Legislation; ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices which will meet and satisfy all reasonable requirements of the aviation community. To plan and implement procedures and projects and to supervise training and proficiency maintenance programs at FAOR.
Job description
Major Activities
- Planning, organising and coordinating his/her particular service in order to satisfy the reasonable requirements of the aviation community.
- Define new operational requirements in the short, medium and long-term in order to maintain and enhance the ATS, making the necessary recommendations for implementation and managing approved implementation.
- Directing and controlling the task execution of the units and staff reporting to him/her and conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure that the ATS is being rendered in accordance with the prescribed standards and SMS.
- Scheduling external training and supervising on-the-job training to ensure competence of staff for the issuance of licenses and validation of ratings.
- Conducting station investigations for M: ATS FAOR on ATS related safety events. Implement preventative measures aimed at eliminating breaches in service delivery standards.
- Maintaining records and reports on traffic activity and all other phases of operations for particular services as may be required by ATNS.
- Proposing and maintaining Station Standing Instructions for the Approach FAOR in collaboration with other FAOR pools and stations within the FAJA FIR.
- Executing watch supervisor duties where applicable and scheduled.
- Being available for field support when necessary and maintain a relevant and adequate level of knowledge of current service provision in accordance with SARPS.
- Conduct validation examinations, annual standards assessments, performance appraisals, quarterly quizzes, and complete supervisory reports on staff under control, thus ensuring staff are competent and authorised to execute their designated functions.
- Propose and maintain, plan, authorise and review operational procedures and documentation i.e. Station Standing Instructions/ Training manual for the Approach FAOR in collaboration with other FAOR pools and stations within the FAJA FIR.
- Plan, motivate and implement optimum staff levels for operational Area ATCs in the Approach FAOR pool.
- Researching and developing improvements in the Approach service delivery.
- Monitor and review inter-pool relationships ensuring effective teamwork.
- Manage effective internal and external client liaison.
- Plan, conduct and review meetings as required and ensure decisions are implemented.
- Mentor peers and subordinates.
- Review the shift scheduling and ensure compliance to BCEA and LRA.
- Manage the transformation process in line with ATNS transformation plan.
- Champion the ATNS values through staff engagement and alignment of activities.
- Perform operational control duties.
- Ensure that ATC and associated services operate efficiently and is administered according to prescribed practices, policies and business rules.
- Coordinate with Technical Support, SAWS, ACSA and other service agencies to ensure the required level of support in providing the Air Traffic Service requirements.
Minimum requirements
· A current validated ATS Licence in the Discipline of which she/he is Pool Manager.
· Rank of ATCO3
· Qualified Search Mission Coordinator (SMC)
· Tertiary Management/Leadership development program(s)
· At least 5 years applicable ATC experience coupled with two years on-the-job instructional experience (OJTI) and Designated Examiner (DE) qualification.
