Introduction

Job description
· Strategy and Leadership - Lead conceptualisation, design, and implementation of the overall ATNS strategy aligned to the business needs, vision, and business strategy. Provide strategic vision and executive leadership for the execution of the strategy, critical projects, cross-functional teams, and sustaining initiatives in support of the strategic objective. Facilitate the execution of the strategy by working collaboratively with the other Executive members and ensure that the strategy is communicated and easily understood by all throughout the organisation. Work with heads of departments to establish goals, objectives, and action plans, which produce expected outcomes to meet the needs of ATNS. Leads the development and implementation of consistent practices and strategic frameworks across ATNS. Lead implementation of the corporate transformation strategy in line with relevant policies legislative framework. Ensure development and implementation of the integrated annual business plan for the Department to enable achievement of the business’ and ATNS strategy.
· Operationalise Strategy, Research, Development & Innovation - Lead conceptualisation, design and implementation of the Department’s operating model considering the business needs, benchmarked global, regional, national ATM concept plans in support of ATNS strategic objectives. Provide a Strategy, Research, Development, and Innovation thought leadership to ATNS aligned to the overall business strategy. Maintain an organization's competitive position and profitability by developing and implementing innovative programs, policies, and procedures. Plan and direct all aspects of the ATNS’ research and development policies, objectives, and initiatives. Ensure the effective implementation and integration of all Departmental workstreams to support achievement of the benchmarked service delivery capability aligned to the business requirements.
· Enterprise Portfolio Programme Management - Lead conceptualisation, design and implementation of an Enterprise Portfolio Programme Management (PPM) Framework. Develop and manage a standardised approach to portfolio, programme and project management at a strategic leadership level. Lead the management of the delivery of projects through the Project Management Office (PPM) . Conduct regular reviews and ensure organisational compliance on the PPM Framework. Deliver routine and/or once off- high level reports/ presentations, coordinating and collating submissions from identified departments and Project Managers as required to produce reports and presentations in line with the strategic deliverables of the organisation. Lead and manage project risks including the development of contingency and prevention plans in conjunction with the Legal department
· Research & Innovation - Provide a Strategy, Research, Development, and Innovation thought leadership to ATNS aligned to the overall business strategy. Maintain an organization's competitive position and profitability by developing and implementing innovative programs, policies, and procedures. Plan and direct all aspects of the ATNS’ research and development policies, objectives, and initiatives. Monitor research and development initiatives of other organizations to spot trends in innovation and supplement research findings in the company’s industry. Develop business cases for implementation of new technologies. Drive technical innovations to improve products and processes. Actively identify key areas for innovative transformation, develop plans and manage these processes by aligning innovation goals with the ATNS broader business objectives. Advise management on annual, medium-term, long-term, and future innovation plans and goals.
· Development - Set direction for enhancing business competitiveness in the development of new products/ services. . Develop effective new ideas and innovative strategies for product development, marketing, branding, or business opportunities. Strategize with other interested stakeholders to transform general ideas into workable solutions.
· Governance, Monitoring and Reporting - Develop and implement a robust governance framework for the Department. Continuously monitor and measure compliance of the team to all ATNS policies and procedures and relevant legislation. Monitor overall Departmental performance against strategy and set targets and corporate objectives. Consolidate input from all workstreams to prepare strategic level reports for the CEO and other relevant stakeholders. Prepare ad hoc strategic reports as required.
· Stakeholder Management - Build, maintain and nurture mutually beneficial relationships with all relevant stakeholders. Adapt operational delivery as practically as possible to meet client needs and expectations. Build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with all business functions and teams within ATNS to enable the required alignment and optimal operational delivery.
· People Management - Ensure the availability of skilled and competent staff in the strategy function to meet the current and future needs aligned to the departmental and overall business strategies. Promote high levels of discipline and performance standards to achieve the ATNS strategies. Manage performance outputs of the team by using the performance management system and taking corrective action promptly and effectively. Mentor and coach staff as required to ensure continuous development and availability of the required at all times.
· Financial Management - Lead development, utilisation, and management of the departmental budget. Ensure effective leadership in the management of operational costs to enable efficient utilisation of financial resources. Ensure compliance to the financial policies and procedures applicable in ATNS. Ensure accountability and reporting on all costs incurred against the approved budget.
Minimum requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Masters level qualification preferably in Business Management or related fields.
· Formal Leadership and Business Management training as an added advantage
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
· A minimum of 10 years’ experience in strategic planning in a complex environment of which 7 years should have been at senior management level, and 3 years management experience.
