Job description

Major Activities

Maintain own proficiency / validation for the rating held. Maintain valid medical (Grade 3) as laid down in ASSI OTARs Oversees Territories Aviation Requirements and OTACs (Oversees Territories Aviation Circular). Complete a minimum of two performance assessments annually. Comply with published duty rosters and by being available for call out duties when required. Comply with the Quality Management System (ISO). Plan, schedule and roster shifts of other Controllers to provide an Air Traffic Control Service to the standards and guidelines that the Company demands. Ensure that healthy working relationships are fostered amongst staff. Fulfill a supervisory function over other staff members (ATC) when required. Provide an Aerodrome and Approach Procedural Control Service as per Manual of ATS and ICAO SARP’s by (Providing alerting/search and rescue services when required, Preventing collision between aircraft, Preventing collisions between aircraft on the maneuvering cv area and between aircraft and vehicles on the maneuvering area, Expediting and maintaining a safe and orderly flow of air traffic, Providing advice and information useful to the safe and efficient conduct of flights, Selecting the appropriate runway in use, Deciding on the priority for arriving and departing aircraft, Controlling taxiing aircraft, Controlling traffic within the designated airspace by complying with aerodrome and approach procedural control separation standards, Applying wake turbulence separation minima, Coordinating relevant air traffic with applicable other ATSU’s / sectors, Declaring visual and instrument meteorological conditions, Obtaining aerodrome serviceability status from aerodrome operator, Notifying appropriate organizations regarding aircraft in need of SAR aid and assist such organizations as required Complying with procedures detailed in station standing instructions, particularly those pertaining to Opening and closing operating positions, Taking over an operating position, Unserviceable equipment and facilities, Maintaining log keeping (occurrence, billing and un-serviceability), Compiling and distributing ATS messages, Complying with standard radio telephony procedures, Supplying meteorological Observation and reporting service, Reporting incidents and accidents and completing relevant documentation, Interact with external organizations regarding aviation related activities, Providing on the job training (As required and when suitably licensed), Providing a designated examiner’s function (as required and when suitably licensed)) Perform specific tasks related to unit administration as delegated by OIC FHSH from time to time.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Aerodrome and Approach Procedural ratings.
  • Meet the appropriate requirements as stipulated within the ASSI OTARs Oversees Territories Aviation Requirements and OTACs (Oversees Territories Aviation Circular).
  • OJTI Rating
  • Hold a valid class 3 medical.

 

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a validated ATCO 2 controller
