Introduction
Applications are invited for the position of Instructional Designer (peromnes grade 8) based at the Aviation Training Academy. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Senior Manager: Learning and Development. Overview ATNS is seeking a candidate to provide instructional design, development, evaluation and research services to internal and external ATNS clients.

Major Activities
 
  • Upgrading conventional course material to Standardised Training Packages to ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS and ATNS standards.
  • Developing new courses as ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Standardised Training Packages to ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS standards.
  • Undertaking preliminary instructional design studies in accordance with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS or Educational Technology processes, while adhering to the ATNS QMS with assistance from SMEs.
  • Drafting training feasibility reports in accordance with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS or Educational Technology processes, while adhering to the ATNS QMS.
  • Conducting detailed task analyses in accordance with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS or Educational Technology processes, while adhering to the ATNS QMS with assistance from SMEs.
  • Consulting with internal and external clients (including SMEs) in order to Investigate and propose instructional design or organizational development solutions. Ensure familiarity with international and domestic client training and development needs as directed by the ATA CRM.
  • Analysing the target population in accordance with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS or Educational Technology processes, while adhering to the ATNS QMS.
  • Drafting training design reports in accordance with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS or Educational Technology processes, while adhering to the ATNS QMS and with assistance from SMEs.
  • Designing curricula and/or syllabi, including definition of training objectives and mastery tests/assessments in accordance with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS or Educational Technology processes, while adhering to the ATNS QMS.
  • Producing material and completing development testing in accordance with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS or Educational Technology processes, while adhering to the ATNS QMS.
  • Validating course design, development and delivery and revise as required in accordance with ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS or Educational Technology processes, while adhering to the ATNS QMS.
  • Maintaining master copies of Standardised Training Packages and associated documentation in accordance with the ATNS QMS.
  • Reviewing all ATA courses and programmes in accordance with the ATA course review plan and SME assistance.
  • Advising all Instructors of course and/or programme content/material changes.
  • Accessing the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS global network to identify courses that may meet client requirements.
  • Training Instructors in the correct use of validated course material.
  • Ensure compliance with Client, ICAO, SACAA, SAQA, TETA, ATNS, IATA & ATA rules, regulations, instructions, directives and educational best practices.
  • Plan, organize and manage instructional design project duties in order to comply with set project objectives and targets
  • Obtaining, presenting and recording human resource development information that can be used for comparison, best practice and benchmarking exercises


Minimum requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Any relevant Bachelor’s degree (Preferably in HRD or Adult Education).
  • Instructional Design qualification.
 
Minimum Experience
  • 4 years’ experience in Instructional design methodology.
  • ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS instructional method and in trainings systems evaluation will be an advantage.
