Job description

Overview
ATNS is seeking a candidate to conduct operational and simulator training for ATS Operations in alignment with business needs and requirements to support safe and effective air traffic operations.
 
Major Activities
  • Contribute to the development of the overall Training Plan and Training Standards Maintenance Program for Operations and ensure the effective implementation thereof.
  • Ensure that equipment, facilities, and simulators are prepared and ready for training, test and evaluation as well as business continuity in the event of a disaster.
  • Facilitate ATS training and ensure that it meets world class standards in improving the competency and skills of ATS staff.
  • Develop and implement specific ATS training components, including ATS training manual alignment and review, pre-course preparation, pre-validation training (simulator training), safety incident-related recovery training, and On-Job-Training (OJT).
  • Develop, review and maintain training material for the ATSO, ATCO1, 2 and 3 pre-course preparation programs in order to select the appropriate delegates that are able and ready for ATA training to attain the relevant rating and formal qualification.
  • Develop, plan, and review Flight Information Service (FIS) and ATCO1, 2 and 3 pre-validation training.
  • Research, develop and implement improvements on ATS training and/or OJT processes.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and improve ATSO FIS, ATCO1, 2, 3 and OJT continuation training in consultation with the MATS, Watch Manager, ATSU Manager, and the ATA.
  • Develop, plan and implement ad hoc simulator training sessions inclusive of post safety events, identification of trends and provide guidance on prevention where possible.
  • Run simulated scenarios on the data-set before operational implementation to validate all proposed changes.
  • Collaborate with the T&I Research & Development Operational and Software Systems Specialists on the validation of changes in data-sets by running simulated scenarios on the data before operational implementation.
  • Coordinate all data-set changes between T&I and ATS Operations by ensuring full participation and signing off of the changes.
  • Participate in the preparation of plans, processes, procedures and safety cases for introducing new technologies into the operational environment.
  • Contribute to the drafting of the annual ATS Continuation Training Plan in the simulator facilities.
  • Ensure preparation of the relevant simulators by guiding the design of discipline-specific exercises for the pre-course preparation, pre-validation and continuation training sessions to meet the requirements of operational training objectives.
  • Conduct pre-course preparation and pre-validation training, and assist operational OJTIs with the facilitation of continuation training.
  • Support and guide the TGOs in the preparation of exercises for the relevant ATM systems.
  • Ensure validation and testing of all simulator exercises prior to use.
  • Testing to be conducted with the relevant ATS unit and pool.
  • Monitor the status of equipment to ensure that it’s in good working order.
  • Ensure that data verification with the affected Watch Manger, ATSU Manager, MATS, and Operational Systems Specialists is conducted.
  • Support the delivery of system training for other ANSPs in order to achieve the onboarding of new technologies.
  • Develop and maintain a collaborative relationship with the ATA, ATS and Customer Solutions to ensure effective training of internal and external clients such as other ANSPs.
  • Provide reports on standard maintenance programs and the status of training within the regions to the Manager: Operational Training.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Air Traffic Control Qualification (ATCO 3)
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as an experienced ATCO 3, of which at least 5 years as an OJTI or Designated Examiner in air traffic management operations.
