Job description
Develop & Maintain OHS Management Systems - Provide leadership in the development, implementation and management of the OHS processes in ATNS. Implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures according to OSHA and other appliable regulations and requirements. Evaluate the organization’s procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and implement safe solutions according to procedures. Ensures organisation’s compliance with current OHS requirements. Develops and implement emergency response and disaster management plans. Keep abreast of the contemporary OHS industry trends and stay up to date with regulatory OHS changes. Review current safety procedures to find areas that need improvement. Ensure alignment of OHS functional processes and outputs to the vision, mission and values of ATNS.
OHS Quality Assurance & Auditing - Coordinate for internal & external audits. Assist in retaining current OHS and quality accreditations. Conducts regular audits to identify potential risks, hazards, unsafe work practices and ensuring regulatory compliance. Ensures that the organisation meets regulatory compliance standards. Promote safety awareness through conducting training and safety education sessions for all employees on safety matters. Develop and implement strategies to reduce or eliminate occupational risk factors. Conduct effective risk assessments on environment impact on OHS at ATNS. Implement new OHS technologies and stay alert to new trends and developments in the industry. Advise on the SHE requirements for new projects and developments. Be the management representative for the ISO 14001 and OHAS 18001 system
Incident Investigation, reporting and Risk Assessment - Inspect equipment and buildings to ensure they meet company and industry safety standards. Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment. Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance. Analyse incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards. Investigate health-related complaints and collect samples of hazardous materials or arrange for sample collection. Maintain or update emergency response plans or procedures. Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies. Maintain inventories of hazardous materials or hazardous wastes, using waste tracking systems to ensure that materials are handled properly.
Minimum requirements
Minimum Qualification:
· Bachelor's degree NQF 7 in Occupational Health & Safety or another related field
· SAMTRAC or NEBOSH qualification will be an added advantage.
· Thorough understanding of the South African OHS regulations
· Understanding of Aviation industry safety standards is an advantage
Minimum Experience:
· Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety preferably in Aviation industry
