Introduction
ATNS is seeking a candidate to provide leadership of the ATA Learning Design and Development team, facilitating training needs analysis, training content design and development, training evaluation systems design as well as the review and amendment of existing training programs/ courses. The incumbent will develop teaching and learning strategies, plans and methodologies ss well as the provision of academic development and support for students and Instructors. Applications are invited for the position Manager: Learning Design and Development (Peromnes Grade 7) based at the Aviation Training Academy. The successful applicants will be reporting to the Head: Learning and Development.
Job description

Major Activities
  
  • Assist ATNS and client organisations in developing their employees' skill sets and productivity by developing learning programmes on technical subjects, soft skills and the key elements  within the scope of aviation training.
  • Implement Teaching strategies that address adult learning needs, including the development of simulation exercises.
  • Manage the research activities applicable to all training offered by the ATA.
  • Manage the design and development of the ATA Training programme portfolio to ensure the empowerment of staff and external students with maximum effectiveness and contribution to meeting ATNS and External Client's human capital development goals.
  • Ensure the implementation of best practice instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, TPlus, etc.) , as entrenched in the ATNS QMS.
  • Manage the development of ICAO Standard Training Packages to retain TRAINAIR Plus membership. Quality check and approve all ATA training programs developed.
  • Manage the development of e-learning products and solutions
  • Manage the delivery of ICAO Training Programmes to ensure revenue growth through product portfolio expansion.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the client, ATNS, SACAA and the industry’s standards, procedures, and policies relevant to training and development.
  • Conduct benchmarks that measure the impact and effectiveness of organisational training and development programs against global best practices.
  • Maintain positive working relations with all clients and stakeholders as applicable to this function.
  • Identify and create new opportunities for continuous revenue growth by creating innovative learning products and delivery modalities.
  • Ensure optimal relationships with subject matter experts.
  • Assist operational staff and on-the-job-training-instructors to address specific training problems within ATNS.
  • Manage the ATA resource Center.
  • Demonstrate effective organisational skills that result in compliance with all legal, QMS and management mandates and timelines.
  • Report to the Head of Learning and Development concerning matters identified and required by ATNS to achieve business plans.
  • Make conceptual presentations to departmental Heads and other organisational levels

Minimum requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  •         Post Graduate Degree in Education /Training and Development / Human Resource Development.
  •         Qualification in Instructional Design ( ICAO TRAINAIR Plus design qualification preferable)
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Course curriculum design and development.
  • Three years experience in project managing Instructional Design Projects.
  • At least two years experience in adult learning development.
