Introduction
Applications are invited for the position of Officer: Quality Assurance and Accreditation (Peromnes 9), based at the Aviation Training Academy. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Manager: Education Quality Assurance.
ATNS is seeking a candidate to provide quality oversight at the Aviation Training Academy (ATA) informed by ATNS Quality Management Systems, CHE, TETA, SACAA and relevant regulation so that ATA can become a world class aviation training academy that meets customer requirements.
Job description
Major Activities
- Quality assures the curricula of courses, programmes and or qualifications developed for accreditation to meet all requirements as set out by the relevant certification and or accreditation body, e.g., SETAs; and aligned to best practice in terms of curriculum design at a higher education level.
- Track and consolidate curriculum reviews and changes at the academy to ensure alignment to ATA procedures.
- Ensure that action plans for curricula and/programme improvement are drafted by the relevant department and that the proposed interventions are implemented and monitored.
- Ensure that annual proficiency checks on all instructors are conducted as per the Procedure.
- Providing guidance in the development, implementation, monitoring and review of Quality Assurance procedures,
- Quality check the newly developed ATA learning programmes to ensure that they satisfy the requirements of relevant regulations.
- Ensure compliance to applicable civil aviation regulations and higher education policies in the design and accreditation of learning programmes where required.
- Development, alignment and maintenance of Quality Assurances policies and procedures.
- Conduct class inspection visits, where necessary in line with ATA Quality Management System.
- Monitor the administration of examination and assessment to ensure adherence to the relevant civil aviation regulations.
- Check the training manuals to ensure that they are current and address the training needs of the client.
- Design and develop quality assurance tools.
- Manage and coordinate ad hoc quality assurance projects.
- Research new initiatives in particular new quality assurance tools and equipment.
- Develop and deliver training opportunities and information sessions for staff, to ensure the realisation of quality objectives, as well as understanding of accreditation and certification requirements.
- Conduct QMS Internal Audits as per ATA Internal Audit Plan, and ATNS QMS Internal Audit Plan
- Identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for enhancing the academy’s processes, practices, and systems.
- Take responsibility for all documentation relating to quality assurance and enhancement and monitoring & evaluation, and ensure they are maintained in an orderly and accessible system for the purposes of periodic reporting, internal and external audits, accreditation events and other quality assurance events.
- Monitor the process of registration of ATA Instructors as Assessors and Moderators.
- Facilitate and monitor the initial and renewal of SACAA rating certificates for ATA Instructors.
- Facilitate the internal and external moderation of students’ portfolios with relevant SETAs to enable the certification of students.
Minimum requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or Relevant Qualification in Education.
- Quality Management System (QMS) Qualification would be an advantage.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in quality assurance/ Quality Management System/ Integrated Quality Management System.
