Applications are invited to apply for the vacant Employee Relations & Transformation Specialist position x2 (Peromnes Grade 7) based at Bruma. The successful applicant will report to the Head of Employee Relations, EE, and Wellness.
Job description

Main Activities:
 
Transformation
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the transformation plan and all related projects for the company.
  • Provide guidance and direction on all initiatives relating to transformation.
  • Ensure compilation and timeous submission of the Employment Equity Plans and Report reports.
  • Understanding and setting of business EE targets to drive and enable the transformation agenda.
  • Identify continuous improvement and sustainability of transformation and diversity practices.
  • Conduct diversity management-related training programs that promote a culture of inclusion.
  • Engage, consult, and involve line management in all delivery elements of the transformation scorecard to ensure achieving goals and objectives.
  • Consult with the Head of Employee Relations, EE & Wellness / CHCO, and other Executives to manage the EE headcount targets (race, gender, and disability) by setting and monitoring ratios for recruitment, promotions, training, and development.
  • Oversee all activities of stakeholders (forums, committees, etc.) driving the business transformation strategy and ensure consistency and uniformity in the execution of their roles and responsibilities.
 
Employee Relations: Ensuring consistent implementation of labour relations interventions that foster a sound labour relations climate in ATNS.
  • Contributes to the development of the ATNS Employee Relations and Transformation strategy.
  • Provide professional advice and consult on employee relations issues management.
  • Actively participate in annual wage negotiations, general management, and labour consultations with recognized labour unions.
  • Provide guidance in leading with industrial actions/strikes-related matters, establishing, and maintaining management and labour forums.
  • Advises and facilitates negotiations and engagements between management and the recognised union/s.
  • Ensures implementation and maintenance of the consultative labour and management structures.
  • Advises management and employees on ER processes.
  • Facilitates the process of drafting and reviewing of recognition, substantive, and collective agreements.
  • Updates the ATNS ER policies and procedures to ensure alignment with the legislative changes.
  • Monitor labor-related legislative changes and ensure that the company policies, processes, and frameworks are timeously updated.
  • Conduct ER-related training to ensure that line management and employees are informed and capacitated.
  • Facilitates regular ER climate surveys to ensure proactive management of the ER function.
  • Develop initiatives to address the outcomes from surveys and people-related assessments.
  • Manage external dispute resolution processes.
  • Participates and guides restructuring planning processes, leads and facilitates the engagement as required.
  • Participated in the planning and execution of business projects that may impact employee relations.
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategic business growth and sustainability.
  • Liaise with the Department of Labour and other statutory and non-statutory bodies on behalf of the company.
  • Ensures that the Company transformation function meets the principles of sound Corporate Governance.
  • Management of Unions and union representatives to ensure sound working relationships.
  • Understanding of measuring tools to enable the required change of behaviour within the business.
  • Conduct research to identify best ER practices aligned with legislation.
Management
  • Develops and conducts presentations and reports to the management and staff on all matters relating to Management and Transformation
  • Ensure that all compliance-related issues within the businesses are proactively managed.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements
 
  • A tertiary qualification, e.g., a Bachelors Degree in Law (Labour relations), or Human Resources Management, or Industrial Psychology, or a related qualification, is required.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Labour Relations / Business or related qualification will be an added advantage.
  • 8 - 10 years of work experience, of which five must have been within Employee Relations and/or Human Resources Generalist with exposure to ER and Transformation in a complex and highly unionised environment. Public sector experience is advantageous.
