Job description

Applications are invited for the positions of Pool Manager: Bloemfontein based at Bram Fischer International Airport. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Manager: Air Traffic Services.

 

Overview

ATNS is seeking a candidate to provide safe, orderly and expeditious regional Air Traffic Services in accordance with Company policy and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices which will meet and satisfy all reasonable requirements of the aviation community in accordance with relevant ATS directives for ATS outputs.


Major Activities

  • Planning, organizing and coordinating the service in order to satisfy the reasonable requirements of the aviation community.
  • Defining new operational requirements (processes and procedures) in the short and medium term to maintain and enhance the Air Traffic Service, making the necessary recommendations for implementation and managing approved implementation.
  • Directing and controlling the task execution of the units and staff reporting to him/her and conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure that the ATS is being rendered in accordance with the prescribed standards and SMS.
  • Schedule external training and supervising on-the-job training to ensure competence of staff for the issuance of licenses and validation of ratings.
  • Conducting station investigations for MATS Bloemfontein on air traffic services related incidents, implementing preventive measures aimed at eliminating breaches service delivery standards.
  • Proposing and maintaining Station Standing Instructions for Bloemfontein Unit in collaboration with other Stations within the Johannesburg FIR.
  • Maintaining a relevant and adequate level of knowledge of current service provision in accordance with SARPS.
  • Planning and executing all initial exposure training.
  • Conducting validation examinations, annual standards assessments, performance appraisals, quarterly quizzes and complete supervisory reports on staff under control, thus ensuring staff are competent and authorized to execute their designated functions.
  • Planning and executing continuation training for all staff.
  •  Proposing and maintaining, planning, authorizing and reviewing operational procedures and documentation i.e. Station Standing Instructions / LOP’s / SLA’s in collaboration with TS and other Stations within the Johannesburg FIR.
  • Planning, performing and reviewing internal audits including ISO, OHAS and Operational.
  • Implementing and monitoring corrective actions and operational plans.
  • Monitoring and reviewing inter-pool relationship ensuring effective teamwork.
  • Managing effective internal and external client liaison and meetings when required.
  • Planning, conducting and reviewing meetings as required and ensuring decisions are implemented.
  • Reviewing the shift scheduling and ensuring compliance to BCEA and LRA.
  • Providing resources for safety assessments.

 


Minimum requirements

Minimum Qualifications


  • Validated ATCO3 license.
  • OJTI Rated

 

Minimum Experience


  • At least 3 years ATC experience
  • Two years on-the-job instructional experience (DE qualification will be an advantage) 
  • Previous OIC experience will be an advantage
